Deadly Desserts is a card game for people who like food and feud. The game is great for friends and families because it’s easy to learn and is highly strategic (so load up on brain food before playing). Deadly Desserts was funded on Kickstarter in April 2020. Tenderize your friends and family with 64 unique food champions.
Win By Not Winning
Deadly Desserts is a trick-taking card game. If you’ve never played a trick-taking game before, Deadly Desserts is the perfect game to start with! The game is played in a series of tricks. In each trick, players play one card each and one player takes the cards. Since most cards deal damage, your objective is to NOT take tricks! It’s a very fun gameplay style because you win by not winning.
If you’re familiar with trick-taking games, Deadly Desserts builds off of classics (e.g. Hearts, Euchre, Bridge) and adds exciting gameplay features, such as Gourmayhem Cards to double cards’ values, being able to play 2-10 players rather than just 3-4, and a more balanced scoring system.
We’ve updated our instructions based on feedback, which also now include a link to how to play and sample round videos!
How to Feud
Set-Up
Each player starts with health tokens and a hand of cards. Your objective is to strategically play your hand out to avoid losing health.
Whoever has the most health at the end of the game wins!
Determining A Trick’s Craving
Whoever last ate dessert leads the first trick by playing any card. The food group of the first card in each trick is the craving.
Playing A Trick
Going clockwise, players must play a card of the craving food group if available in their hand. Otherwise, they play any card.
Taking A Trick
Whoever plays the highest level Craving takes all cards from the trick and leads the next trick. Keep playing tricks until the round is over and points are added.
The game ends after 3 rounds or when a player runs out of health!
Satisfy Your Strategic Appetite
The game is simple for kids to learn and strategic for adults to feel engaged. Deadly Desserts can get highly competitive because of strategizing based on how others might play. It can also be played casually while nibbling on some cookies. Plus, kids might get more excited about vegetables because Asparaguy is the only card that heals, while all desserts deal damage!
One of the most fun aspects of Deadly Desserts is a Sugar Rush. A player Sugar Rushes when they collect all desserts in one round, dishing out massive damage and potentially winning the game in a single round! You won’t get bored of Deadly Desserts after several playthroughs, you’ll have more fun as you develop your strategy and encounter all of the fun situations that can occur.
