BASIC PAINTING TIPS AND GUIDE: Step 1: Set Base Colors
Start by priming your terrain with a neutral color, like gray, to help the paint adhere. Then apply base colors to different parts of the terrain. For a sci-fi ruined building, use a dark gray for walls and structures, a dull green or brown for any ground areas, and metallic silver for machinery or exposed metal.
Step 2: Apply a Wash for Shadows
Use a black or dark brown wash and apply it liberally to all the base-coated areas. This wash will settle in the crevices, adding depth and enhancing shadows. Let the wash dry thoroughly before moving to the next step.
