    Summary

    • One collector has been running a DnD campaign for almost 50 years.
    • His party has been on 408 adventures since the late ’70s.
    • he also owns an immense collection of over 16,000 miniatures and collectibles.

Getting your Dungeons & Dragons party together to continue a session is probably tougher than fighting an actual dragon. With work, travel, and other commitments, getting five people together for enough time to make actual progress in a campaign is next to impossible. This results in campaigns stretching for months, and sometimes even over a year.

However, it seems one man has been running a DnD campaign for almost 50 years. Garry, an avid collector of miniatures and other display pieces, has been hosting the same campaign for almost five decades now, and it’s not because his friends keep bailing, but because they all love it so much.

Almost 50-Year Dungeons & Dragons Campaign Is Still Ongoing

Squidmar Miniatures, a YouTube channel focussing on miniatures of all kinds dedicated a video to Gary, who is such an avid collector that his mansion is filled with over 16,000 miniatures and collectibles, painted by various commissioned artists and even some of the best in the business. In fact, Gary’s collection is so large that he is in the process of building a public museum.

While that is impressive in itself, what really stood out to us was how it all started. Garry and some of his friends started a Dungeons & Dragons campaign in the late ’70s and have been continuing that same campaign for almost 50 years. They’ve been on 408 adventures and, as you can imagine, are all very high ranked in their respective classes.

For instance, his wife is a level 21 thief. At such high levels a game of DnD is vastly different to what you’d normally go through. You’re already incredibly adept and powerful, so campaigns need to be adapted as such. “It’s like running a castle,” said Garry.

Currently, Garry is in the process of building a public museum for his massive collection, which ranges from DnD miniatures, to Lord of the Rings props by Weta Workshop, and even lifelike busts of MCU characters. Dubbed Verko’s Vault, it will house pieces that have been painted by over 150 artists, including some renowned names.
